Alex Jensen's father had already been a scientist - he searched at SETI for extraterrestrial intelligence, which had a long-lasting effect on Alex's development. Alex graduated with a degree in theoretical physics from Stanford University-with the highest distinction, summa cum laude.
Dr. Jensen rejected a position at CERN to work at the side with one of the greatest geniuses of our time, Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Since Dr. Cooper is her biggest role model, she gave everything to pass the tough employment test with flying colors. In the end it was her sincerity that impressed Dr. Cooper when she gave a simple and honest assessment of his intellect. To her chagrin, Sheldon did not have an assistant in mind who would help him with his daily scientific work at the university, but someone who would relieve him of all of the unpleasantries of life, like scheduling, errands (even personal ones), and the examination of old theoretical works going back to his schooldays. After all, Dr. Cooper's time is a precious commodity that should not be wasted on matters that actually insult his intellect.
Ales soon shows interest in Leonard, which pleases neither Penny nor Sheldon. Dr. Cooper is concerned that Alex could neglect her extremely important job, which would have a negative influence on his work. His attempts to dissuade Alex from amorous activities are misconstrued as sexual harassment bringing Sheldon no small amount of trouble. Fortunately he has an assistant who can handle the additional burdens eventually arising for him from disciplinary measures.
Alex is not a particularly great help searching for a Valentine's Day gift for Dr Cooper's girlfriend Dr. Amy Farrah Fowler. Indeed, she show great talent in internet research matters and in that way observes all of the preferences and interests that Sheldon's sweetheart presents, but the meaningfulness of her acquisitions does not withstand closer analysis by the sharp intellect of a Sheldon Cooper.
